Graphic Design
Based on the poem The Orange by Wendy Cope, which is one of my favourite literacy pieces, I designed my own graphics to compile into a hand-crafted zine.
I wanted to lean into the colour scheme and the versatility of oranges throughout the zine. As such, a vast majority of the zine has iterations of orange-related items, like orange juice and those trendy fruit sandwiches. Some are based on a distant memory of childhood, like a swing set with seats orange-themed. As the poem quotes "ordinary things", I included simple memorabilia that I appreciated and caused me immense joy. Some other details were the hand-drawn forget-me-nots and "Heartstopper" styled leaves in the last couple pages indicating the theme of love and hoping that the recipient would not forget the existence of the gifter.
